When we find a technology that has extraordinary potential, we want to move at a faster pace.
The Waterston Accelerator Fund is our financing arm that allows for investment in cutting-edge medical technology that will leave an indelible mark on humanity. Once innovations are evaluated by our independent committee to ensure they make the cut, we move full steam ahead.
We hold the majority ownership stake in each company that receives investment and have responsibility for full governance. By comprehensively aligning incentives and centralizing decision making, we create an environment that optimizes speed of invention and M&A transacting, enabling these life-impacting technologies to exit to patients and operators more quickly.
Why Invest in the Accelerator Fund?
We own the ecosystem, which has, at its foundation, an amazing group of consultants who work exclusively with us to make truly informed decisions.
We select only the top 5% of opportunities based on a comprehensive diligence process executed by an independent cross-functional investment committee.

Our Due Diligence Process is Second to None
-
We perform an initial triage to confirm the viability of all inventions and technologies under consideration. To move forward in our due diligence process, each technology must meet our basic criteria:
Is the technology a medical device or digital health product
Does it have a working prototype?
Has Intellectual Property been filed?
Is there is a billing code for the device?
-
Once initial criteria are met, we move forward, first to an executive assessment and then to a deep technical assessment, which:
• Considers more than 20 criteria
• Involves key opinion leaders who share their professional assessment of the technology.
-
If the proposed technology passes both Executive and Technical Assessments, it is presented to our independent portfolio committee for evaluation and recommendation.
The committee is comprised of Leaders in healthcare and includes:
• Healthcare private equity execs
• Healthcare med device manufacturer leaders from companies like Abbott Medical
• M&A attorneys
• Thought leader physicians
• Med device company advisors.
